Spanish justice can be expensive and sometimes inefficient

It can take months, if not years, before a final judgement can be enforced. And, perhaps, by the time you receive a verdict in your favour, the debtor will have disappeared or will have nothing left. Moreover, unlike in many other countries, the loser of the case does not always bear all the legal and court costs. Courts expect the winner to pay its share of the costs. This may result in the regressive costs of the trial, which cannot be passed on to the debtor, being higher than the unpaid costs.

And debtors know this too! So they refuse to pay and the creditors do nothing to avoid even greater losses: unpaid + regressive costs of the process that are not transferable to the debtor.
